Lea Bryden, President
Lea Bryden has been the CEO at the Medical Society of PEI since January 2014. Prior to that she served as a vice president in the Halifax health authority for over 15 years.
A native of New Brunswick and graduate of Mount Allison University, Lea grew up spending summers in
PEI’s Victoria-by-the Sea where she and her husband recently bought back the old family homestead,
and five generations have called ‘home’ since the 1930’s.
As the CEO of the Medical Society, she is most proud of the organizational transformation that has
occurred and the professionalism that has now become its hallmark as it pursues a number of new
ventures. These include a master’s program in physician leadership; addressing physician burnout and
retention; working with government to overhaul physician recruitment; and adopting interest-based
negotiations to renew its contract with government.
Lea and Russ are parents to three children – all off the payroll and happily employed- and four beautiful grandchildren.
